Fiber Arts

If I was inclined toward hierarchy, I might say that fiber art is my one true love. While the computer screen has trouble communicating the divine texture of the varied natural fibers with which I work, I hope you will take a moment to imagine the bounce and tuft of these hand-made pieces.

a few FAQs about fiber arts

What is Fiber Arts? Fiber art is a type of fine art that uses natural or synthetic fibers—such as fabric, yarn, and thread—as the primary medium. Unlike traditional crafts that focus on utility, fiber art emphasizes aesthetic expression, conceptual depth, and often social or political commentary. Common forms of fiber art include weaving, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, macramé, quilting, felting, and textile sculpture. These techniques allow artists to explore both 2D and 3D forms, creating work that is often tactile, intricate, and rich with cultural or personal meaning.

Tell me about your Fiber Arts creations. I’m a fiber artist who works with techniques like weaving, embroidery, felting, skinnfell and textile sculpture. My creative process is deeply intuitive and inspired by nature—especially trees and organic forms. I use natural materials to create earthy textures and flowing, water, earth, and root-like shapes that reflect the interconnectedness of the natural world. My work is slow and meditative, grounded in a deep respect for the rhythms of nature.

What inspires your Fiber Arts? Some pieces arise from personal experience, while others feel like gifts or ideas that flow through me. All of it is received and created with gratitude.

Are your Fiber Arts products one-of-a-kind? Yes! Each piece tells its own story. Many works are original or part of a limited-run, so once they’re sold, they’re gone for good.

Where can I view your Fiber Arts? You can explore my creative work in the Digital Arts Gallery and the Fiber Arts Gallery, each filled with one-of-a-kind pieces and limited-run prints. You can also visit my art studio in Point Roberts, WA.

How can I purchase your Fiber Arts pieces and prints of your art? If a piece speaks to you, don’t wait — you can make it yours directly through the Rhys.Earth Shop before it’s no longer available.
